This emergent reader is perfect for the month of October when children visit the pumpkin patch and carve pumpkins. It is called "Pumpkin Picking" and is a printable emergent text that uses high frequency sight words and vocabulary words. The list of words can be read from the back cover of the booklet after it is assembled.

Printing and Images
This is booklet prints in black and white. The adorable graphics in this booklet have children visiting a pumpkin patch, selecting a pumpkin, and then carved pumpkin faces . At the end of the booklet, students can draw their own pumpkin face.
Some preparation is required to assemble the booklets. A total of four (single sided) pages is required to make one booklet. The pages will need to be folded and stapled together. No cutting involved!
To maximize the learning experience from the read aloud, I have included the sight words and vocabulary words in flash card format. These can be printed and provided to each student before or after reading the text. An assessment tool for measuring student accuracy with reading the booklet is also included.
I used a font called "EZRead" (which may help developing readers) within the text of the "story". Another font is used for the front and back covers.
Your download is for personal and single classroom use only.
