I created these word family packs to supplement whole group instruction on word families. I use these as independent practice following guided activities in my classroom. Each word family work pack includes 6-7 activities that focus on common short vowel patterns. The activities are designed to develop skills with rhyming words, blending and segmenting sounds, recognition of nonsense words, substitution of various sounds within a word, vocabulary development and the use of common blends/digraphs. All activities are common core aligned and can be easily modified for differentiated instruction.
Activities included in this pack:
Read, write and draw
Change a letter to make "et" word family words
Read, cut, glue and write
Find and write words that belong in the "et" family
Nonsense vs real words "et" family
4 square of "et" words
making words letter cards
