iPad animated video projects using the Tellagami app.
Integrate this free iPad® mobile digital device app into reading, math, writing, and science with 6 complete CCSS aligned projects. Students will plan and create a video featuring an animated avatar character called a "Gami" that they design, who will "say" anything the students record.
The 6 projects include:
: Planning sheet for writing and presenting a book summary using the "Somebody/Wanted/But/So/Then" format. Students will take a picture of a book read as the background for their video.
★ Math - Explain Your Thinking
: Planning sheet for writing and presenting an explanation of a math problem solved. Students will take a picture of a math problem for their video background then explain in words what they did to solve it.
★ Book Spine Poetry
: Planning sheet for writing and reciting a book spine poem. Students will scan a QR code to view examples of book spine poems on the web, then stack books to make their own. Students will photograph and make a video featuring them reading their poem with the poem as the background.
★ Planet Report
: Research, plan, and drafting sheets for presenting a report about a planet in our solar system. Includes checklist style direction page, a QR code to visit the NASA website, a graphic organizer for gathering facts, and lined drafting paper for writing the report. Students will save a picture from the web to be the background of their video.
★ Endangered Animal Report
: Research, plan, and drafting sheets for presenting a report about an endangered animal. Includes checklist style direction page, a QR code to visit a relevant website, a graphic organizer for gathering facts, and lined drafting paper for writing the report. Students will save a picture from the web to be the background of their video.
★ Persuasive Speech
: Research, plan, and drafting sheets for creating a speech about a topic of choice. Includes checklist style direction page, a graphic organizer for planning speech using the popular "double-stuffed" cookie anagram, and lined drafting paper for writing the speech. Students will save a picture from the web to be the background of their video.
In addition to the project pages, packet also includes everything your students need to use the app independently:
★ 2 visual step-by-step direction pages for using the app.
★ 1 reference sheet - a one page basic outline of controls to display at the center or project for the whole class to use.
★ 1 rubric for assessing any project using CCSS friendly language.
★ 2 visual step-by-step direction sheets for getting background images from the web (using a kid-friendly image website) and for taking pictures using the iPad.
★ 1 Quiet Please sign to display when students are recording video. Leave in the center so other students know not to interrupt!
You will need the free app Tellagami. Please note that the free app limits length of videos to 30 seconds, which I took into consideration when creating the projects. You may also be interested in purchasing the Tellagmi Edu app, which features additional options and unlimited recording. QR codes that direct to the App Store® online store for both are included.
Since my products all utilize free web and app resources, there may be rare times that the technology does not work as planned, which may be out of my control. Please be sure to message me in the Q&A section so I can assist you before leaving feedback. I use all of the apps that I base my packets on frequently and will update products as the apps themselves update.
