As a teacher with one-to-one iPads, I was struggling to get my students to store the content in the apps into their brains. One of the things I first did was created a graphic organizer to help them put down their thoughts about the Presidents of the United States. I thought, I will NEVER get these students to complete this but if they KNEW they were going to get to play the game after the assignment was completed, it was game on!
This app provides lots of opportunities of all ages to learn more about our history. You can select just learning the faces of the Presidents or you can learn about their which President comes before and after another one. The options include identify President, Political Party, Before and After, Historical Events, Nicknames, Quotes, and Facts.
As more and more teachers get iPads in their classrooms for their students to use, the need for accountability gets greater and greater. Using iPads for the past five years has taught me a great deal of things. They allow for more creativity and it holds the student’s attention span for a larger amount of time. These NO PREP activities will have your students reading and ENJOYING their practice time.
Once a week, I demonstrate how to use different apps on my Periscope channel @kamibutterfield. If you miss them, you can find my recordings at www.katch.me/kamibutterfield. I try to demonstrate all the things I do in my classroom. These videos will help you use these activities in your room!
Some of the activities are harder than others. Some can be used with younger students and some can be used with your more advanced learners.
