iPad QR Dice Game - Read, Roll, and Click
Easily integrate iPads with this low-prep Common Core aligned reading response game. Either as a stand-alone center or added into an existing QR listening center, the three versions of this dice game will motivate students to look back into the text to visualize and take pictures on the iPad to answer response questions. The questions will work with any book read.
★ Version 1
- Students will roll the dice and read the matching response question. Students will use the camera app on the iPad to take a picture of an illustration or the text that answers the question.
★ Version 2
- Students will roll the dice and scan a QR code to open the response question. Students will use the camera app on the iPad to take a picture of an illustration or the text that answers the question.
★ Version 3
(Full-tech integration version for when you are feeling fancy) - Students will roll the dice and scan a QR code to open the response question. Students will open the free app Draw Free on the iPad, then use the camera within the app the take a picture of an illustration or the text that answers the question. Students will use the drawing tools in the app to label their picture then save it to the camera roll.
This print it and pass out center game includes clear direction sheets for students to follow and aligns to Common Core standards in K-3rd grade. Students will need to know how to open the QR scanner app to scan the codes, how to open the DrawFree app to draw, and how to take a picture on the iPad.
Packet includes everything your students need to play the game independently:
★ 2 Read, Roll, and Click with QR codes for a total of 12 prompts.
★ 2 Read, Roll, and Click sheets without QR codes.
★ 3 Visual step-by-step student game direction sheets - one for each version of the game.
★ 1 Rubric for assessing student work
★ 1 Center direction sheet
I make sure my iPad packs have everything you need to get started - you do NOT need to be an expert at using the iPads.
Depending on the version of the game you use in your class, you will need a QR reader app and the free app DrawFree for the iPad. A QR code for the iTunes listing is included.
Since my products all utilize free web and app resources, there may be rare times that the technology does not work as planned, which may be out of my control. Please be sure to message me in the Q&A section so I can assist you before leaving feedback. I use all of the apps that I base my packets on frequently and will update products as the apps themselves update.
If your students enjoy QR codes and rolling dice games, I have other Read & Roll games to make responding and close reading fun. Find them here:Roll & Learn on the iPadLooking for more iPad Reading Workshop activities? Check out my Common Core aligned close reading strategy packets:
