Teach students how to ask questions while reading.
Easily integrate iPad® mobile digital device into your reading workshop, literacy centers, whole group or guided reading plans with this low-prep app-smashing activity. Use the included planning and direction sheets for students to create a digital image showcasing the “Asking Questions” reading strategy.
After writing their questions on the enclosed graphic organizer, students will take a selfie, then they will use the free app EyeColor to change their eye color and enlarge their eyes, finally they will use the free app PhotoNote to add thought bubbles with their questions over the wacky eye image. Their completed “Eye” Wonder images can be uploading and shared digitally or printed.
Packet includes everything your students need to complete the project using both apps independently:
★ 2 Visual step-by-step student direction pages for using the free app EyeColor.
★ 1 Visual step-by-step student direction pages for using the iPad camera to take a selfie.
★ 3 Visual step-by-step student direction pages for using the free app PhotoNote
★ 1 graphic organizer sheet to record their questions.
★ 1 Asking Questions Anchor Chart to display or add to reader’s notebook.
★ 1 Checklist student planning sheet to guide students in completing the project.
★ 1 Rubric to assess student work.
You will need the free apps EyeWonder & PhotoNote. QR codes to download the apps from the App Store® online store are included in this packet. Both apps do include ads – I remind students to touch the X.
Since my products all utilize free web and app resources, there may be rare times that the technology does not work as planned, which may be out of my control. Please be sure to message me in the Q&A section so I can assist you before leaving feedback. I use all of the apps that I base my packets on frequently and will update products as the apps themselves update.
