This teaches students to identify, analyze, decode, and read words in the -ig word family.
You need two dice, you can use plain wooden blocks. On one, write the letters "p, w, f, b, w, tw." On the other write "ig" on each side of the dice.
The students must roll both dice, put them together, read the word they've created, and cover that word once on their mat. Once they cover all of the words on their mat they win.
This can be done in whole group, with the teacher rolling and showing on the SMARTboard what they've rolled, or in small group, again teacher rolls, or individually, students roll. They can also play in partners, for example one partner might use blue counters to cover their words, and the opponent might use red counters.
