This deck of 3x5 words and sentences provide students with the opportunity to read and spell words containing "ir" saying /er/. They are some of the oldest words in the language as well as number words. Students should be able to make associations with words being old such as we have needed a word for birth since the beginning of time as well as "dirt" being an old word because people had dirt floors. Fir trees are some of the oldest trees in existence and very hardy but "birds" also date back to the dinosaurs and how birds were so much a part of our culture. These cards should be used as part of an Orton-Gillingham lesson plan.
