This is a very engaging graphing activity. I give each student a small cup or treat size bag of m&m's. Students use the sorting mat to sort their m&m's by color. Then they use the tally chart to record the number of each color. Students then transfer the data to a bar graph before answering questions about their data and comparing the numbers of certain colors using >, <, or = signs.
My students love this. I rarely give them candy so this is a real treat for them!
