I created FLIPMARKS when I noticed students with reading logs, comprehension resources and goal-sheets up the wazoo! Wanting to hold students accountable, but streamline their resources, the flipmark was born. Students keep it in their independent, partner or book club text to record a reading goal each day, capture the key details and have a go-to place for comprehension strategies to be used in reading notebooks, on sticky notes or in conversations! Not only do students love flipmarks, but they also allow you to pack a lot of thinking in one resource. Check out the preview for more details and ideas.
Includes realistic fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, informational, and biography! A Book Club version includes tips for conversations. Also includes a BONUS figurative language flipmark to track metaphors, similes, personification and idioms in all texts! Please email me with suggestions for more genres or types you'd like to see! Also email if you have any trouble or formatting is problematic. firstname.lastname@example.org.
To use this resource, print the pages front to back, fold, staple and cut! Be sure to choose the printing option “Scale to fit” so that nothing gets cut off! Depending on your printer or copier, you may need to rotate every other page for them to end up in flipbook order. To make three flipmarks you'll need two sheets of paper printed front and back. I highly recommend color-coding your flipmarks to easily see what genres students are reading for reflection and assessment.
