This product is my easy pH lab examining the pH values of common household substances such as vinegar, hand sanitizer, shampoo, juice, milk, windex, and hand soap with a comparison between tap water and distilled water. The lab report comes in a Word document that can be easily modified to fit the products you have lying around in your classroom or home. I encourage you to test out anything!
Students will test the pH of nine household solutions using litmus paper and then identify the solution as basic, acidic or neutral based on the results. Labeled pH scale is clearly shown on the lab report.
Students will test how baking soda affects the pH of vinegar using litmus paper.
Testing the pH of a student's saliva. This has always been a fun (but gross) portion of the lab that has student's examine how their own saliva has a pH and has them examine what factors may affect that pH value. Emphasis on responsible and clean lab practices!
