Your students will really enjoy this game which encourages reading comprehension and higher order thinking. It can be used as a station or center, an early finisher activity, or a lesson activity.
All you need is a deck of cards. You'll print an instruction card, a non-fiction question card, and a fiction question card, each sized to fit an average sized playing card. Students are instructed to read and stop occasionally to discuss. Students will draw a card, then find the matching discussion question.
The questions were carefully planned to encourage higher order thinking and deep comprehension of text, as well as spark discussion between partners. Numerous Common Core Standards are represented.
