One of the most important and most difficult tasks about writing a research paper is organizing information while also providing correct citations. Using the research guide allows students to easily organize their research into themes while simultaneously keeping track of their sources. Simply identify themes from the research and insert them at the top of the matrix. While reading from a particular source, students will document the correct (APA formatted) citation information then organize the information gathered by the themes across the matrix. You can scaffold the matrix by either providing themes or allowing students to discover them on their own. Once the matrix is complete, each column can easily be converted into the body paragraphs of a well-written research paper, complete with proper citations! Copy Matrix onto legal size paper for easier use.
