First Strokes Print Legibility Program for Teen - Adult! Created by Jan McCleskey, MA, OTR from First Strokes/The Handwriting Clinic. Perfect for teens, perfect for adults. 30 activities to improve print legibility, plus additional number legibility practice. The program works on 2 major components: sizing of letters to get a consistent size/spacing and recognition of speed handwriting errors and to grade handwriting . Students work on adaptive notebook paper to practice skills, then generalize to writing on notebook paper. This workbook also works towards generalization of skills to fill in the blank type activities. Functional generalization activities, such as practice filling out job applications, creative medical forms for a pet, etc. Math legibility is included for numeral formation with legibility and sizing!
IMPORTANT: An integral part of this program, is generalizing skills from the workbook, to adaptive notebook paper. This paper must be purchased separately. A student could work through the workbook without the paper, but it would be very advantageous to obtain a ream of paper as well as regular notebook paper. The program works to first get students to practice sizing on the adaptive notebook paper, and then to generalize to regular notebook paper.
First Strokes/The Handwriting Clinic/The Fine Motor Store also sells a legibility program for students 2nd - 5th grade. The teen/adult program has more workbook practice and functional generation skills for practice. The similar program for younger students is more multi-sensory with more visual cueing and practice in simplified form.. Both programs have been used extensively at The Handwriting Clinic, for summer camp handwriting legibility programs/group classes. The program has also been used in schools and therapy clinics for many years. It is now available on TPT as a download so that teachers can make multiple copies for their classroom, rather than have to purchase hard copies of the workbooks.
See preview for a portion of the teen - adult workbook. Perfect for occupational therapists to use with caseload, perfect for regular ed teachers to use techniques even within a general classroom for middle/high school. Perfect for adults wanting quick practical activities to practice handwriting. This program might also be a good functional skills program for adults in rehab.
This is an individual digital copy for classroom use. A teacher may make multiple workbooks for a classroom. This file and license for use, allows for a single individual to make workbooks for classroom, clinical or tutoring use. IMPORTANT: The workbook itself is downloadable. However, the paper that comes with the workbook, is an integral part of the program! You can purchase the paper in one of two ways.
1. The Handwriting Clinic/First Strokes Products
www.TheHandwritingClinic.com. See First Strokes Catalog. The paper is called adaptive notebook paper.
2. You can also purchase the adaptive notebook paper through the School Specialty catalog. The paper is called "cursive ruled paper" in the School Specialty catalog.
If you would like a hard copy of a workbook, and a 1/2 ream of the adaptive notebook paper, go to www.thehandwritingclinic.com since TPT no longer supports shipped products.
