A self correcting partner or small group activity using Elkonin boxes to help students segment sounds.
One student will hold up a picture and say the word. The other students then will fill in their sound chart by making a dot for each sound they hear. Then they will write the letters for each sound. The student holding up the picture can then turn it over and the group can see if they identified the correct sounds.
Start with the simple CVC words then move to words with blends and finally words with digraphs. Pictures for all these types of words are included
Make multiple copies of the sound box chart and laminate them or place them in a plastic page protector. Use a dry erase marker so that you can use them again and again. Teacher will also need to cut out the pictures fold them in half and glue them.
