VERY POPULAR WITH STUDENTS AND TEACHERS!
Composed for Orff instruments, “Masquerade Ball” is an original work inspired by the orchestral work, "In The Hall of The Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg. It is comprised of contrasting sections with musical elements that evoke imagery and stir the imagination of the listener. This piece offers an opportunity for students to connect this work with the more well-known orchestral work, opening a door to explore the similarities and differences between the two works. There’s plenty for students to learn and discover as they dig deeper into the nature in which the different parts interact, creating unique sonic textures. Enhance the fun by having students wear masquerade masks when performing, or also create a dance movement that expresses the form of the music. Although Masquerade Ball was written primarily with the intention of using for fall performances, it is a work suitable for anytime of the year. Instructional notes included.
