Product Description
First, this story is 1 page. It is about a student. I left the name out, in case that one of my students or some associated with a student has this name. You can insert any name you want.
My theme this year for grade 7 is "the power of words" to influence, convince, alert, show, explain etc. to encourage real conversation about real issues (in this case, bullying, egotism, etc.)
This student (male) has traits that are good (sporty) and not so good traits. I included tier 1, 2, 3 activities to encourage real thinking.

The main character is a boy, but my class explored changing the character and all the adjectives to female. It was great - sparked a great discussion! I have stories that balance this story, to keep things fair.

The activities include true/false, Q/A, evidence collecting, and the questions : "What are the worst traits? Why?" "Is this person a mean person? Why or why not?" I added the last page for high level students. But in my case, I used it as a vehicle for me to answer the question, to model paragraph writing. I wrote 3 more stories about various students, and am going to put them up as I finish them in class. I hope you enjoyed my story!

I do the following:
I read 1-2 sentences a day, discuss the traits over a week or so.
I then ask for evidence for the traits.
I ask the students to ask me "Est-ce que le garçon est méchant? " I give reasons over and over again pro/con for the students (I model a lot) and then I ask them the same question. For this story, students told me that they had the misconception that it would be boring, but said they started to think about people who annoy others, laziness, etc. That was my goal, to have them go beyond the French.

Here is the story for you to read to make your choice!
