Race to the (shamrock-) top is a fun St. Patrick´s Day themed partner math game, where the students can practise adding and subtracting two-digit numbers or three-digit numbers. It makes a great resource for your math centers or an extra activity for your fast learners.
This packet includes the following:
- a game board
- 40 shamrocks with two-digit numbers
- 40 shamrocks with three-digit numbers
- two spinners in english ( a german version is included too)
- a worksheet to add and/or subtract the numbers
This is how it works:
Laminate the gameboard, the shamrocks and the spinner. Print out a worksheet for each student.
The students take turns. The main goal is to get the counter up to the large shamrock. The student uses his pencil and a large paperclip to spin the spinner. If he gets on a shamrock with a "+" he has to solve an addition. If he gets on a "-" he has to solve a subtraction. For that the students picks two of the shamrocks, writes the numbers down on the worksheet and starts to add/or subtract. If the answer is correct, he can move his counter one (or two) spaces forward on the game board.
Whoever gets to the top first will be the winner of this game.
