This is a listening comprehension activity using La Guía Máxima- Los Tiburones (The Ultimate Guide (Spanish Version): Sharks) on discovery education.
It is an activity for the second semester of Spanish 3 or Spanish 4 and other upper-level classes. My students in Spanish 3 and PreAP 3 have done well with this activity, enjoy learning about animals and are frequently proud of being able to use their prior knowledge from science classes to help them understand a challenging video. There are five exercises with a total of 40 questions about the whole video. The questions are divided into the three sections of the video (La Anatomía del Tiburón, La Evolución del tiburón and Técnicas de Flotación) so that you can show all of the sections at once or at 2 or 3 different times. The complete video is 24 minutes long. I show each section twice for my students. A full answer key is included.
Many school districts have accounts with Discovery Education. Contact your IT support and/ or check your district's web page if you do not have a log in; there is always the chance your system has an account but has not made that information widely known. Also, feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding my experiences with the website. The website has wonderful science and social science videos in Spanish.
