This social story is a great read
for students who may need some support with understanding what types of clothing to wear in different types of weather and seasons.
Many students with autism are visual learners and like to learn through seeing something in action. This book comes complete with matching, simple yet engaging graphics to help describe what is being said on the page.
Comes in col option only - no b/w availability, however you can print in grayscale.
Pages included are;
♦ Sometimes it is hard to know what to wear in different weather.
♦ In any weather I should always wear my underwear.
♦ It’s important to wear shoes when I go outside too.
♦ When it is cold, I should wear trousers, a jumper and a coat.
♦ I should not wear shorts when it is cold, as I may get sick.
♦ When it gets really cold I should wear a hat, scarf and gloves.
♦ Sometimes it looks sunny outside, but it can still feel cold.
♦ When it gets warmer I can stop wearing my thick coat and wear a lighter jacket.
♦ When it’s warm I can stop wearing my jumper and I can wear a t-shirt instead!
♦ When it gets very hot I can wear shorts and a t shirt.
♦ When it’s sunny, it’s very important that I wear sun screen.
♦ In the sun I should also wear a hat and sunglasses to protect me.
♦ When it rains, I can get really wet and this is uncomfortable.
♦ If I am going out in the rain, I should wear wellies to keep my feet dry.
♦ I should also wear a coat with a hood or an umbrella in the rain.
♦ Sometimes new clothes might feel funny and be itchy.
♦ I could go to the stores and try on different clothes to see what material I prefer.
♦ Each morning I can watch the news to see what the weather is that day.
♦ By knowing the weather for the day I can plan what is best for me to wear.
♦ Sometimes the weather can change quickly, one day is hot and the next day is cold.
♦ If I go on vacation, the weather may be different there so I may have to wear different clothes.
I recommend printing out each of the individual pages, laminating them and then binding them into a book so it will be easier for students to read - or be read to, as well as being stronger and longer lasting.
