Each year, I manage to get my middle school students to read 15 books on their own (not including what we read in class). Some read many more than 15 books, but even my most reluctant readers read 15 books. The key is to hold each student accountable for reading throughout the year (there are many who will wait until May to read 15 books...you know the ones...), by celebrating the words they read through manageable check points. This packet includes printables that guide your students to find the most memorable words in their reading, plus a teacher letter to your students explaining the importance of this project. There are 20 printables so that your students will be able to match the prompts to their perception of the quote they have chosen to represent their reading.
Please feel free to ask any questions, and don't forget to leave feedback! It's like free TPT money!
Oh! And as an incentive, each time they read a book, they get a "brag tag" for their classroom collection....they may be in middle school, but these are like gold!
