I am a STICKLER for correct spelling, and I quiz on it from lesson 1 of French 1. Because of that, I give kids as much practice with the vocabulary as I can. I always tell them, "The more you write the words correctly, the more your BRAIN and your HAND get used to it."
I created these "Vocabulary à la Carte" menus for each chapter of Allez, Viens! so that students could have choices in how they practice the vocabulary. Is it repetitive? Yes. Does it teach the good study skills for language learning? Absolutely.
Essentially, students have a menu of options from which to choose. They have to pick 3 of them to practice their vocabulary.
Because Gifted Ed is an area of emphasis for me, it is my policy to differentiate and NOT make kids who already understand the material have to do repetitive work. At the bottom of the page is a space where students who have 90% or higher in the class can "opt out" of the assignment.
