TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching middle school English for over 10 years. In that time I also taught 4 years of History and am the Yearbook adviser at my school site. I recently my MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and am currently pursuing doctoral programs in educational technology. One of my strengths is adding technology and smart devices into my lessons. I recently took a technology course to further enhance my instruction and wrote an article about ways to integrate devices into your own classroom on Edutopia: http://www.edutopia.org/discussion/5-easy-tips-integrating-technology-your-classroom. In addition I have spoken at teaching conferences, specializing in technology integration.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I prefer hands on, task based learning that utilizes technology to enhance instruction. "Hands on" and English don't always go together, but activities that promote autonomy and choice with students can encourage them to become critical thinkers and problem solvers, and ultimately helps them to work at a higher level.
