TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hey everyone! I have been teaching for 8 years! I taught in Kindergarten for 1 year, then moved to 2nd grade where I taught for 6 years. I am now in 1st grade and loving every minute of it!!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I feel that I have a little of all the teaching styles in me. I like student-centered conversations and activities, but I also feel there is a time for me to teach and for things to be teacher-centered. I think it all depends on if material is new or review and what you want them to learn. The MOST important thing, I feel, is defining your classroom management. You MUST stick with the rules you set and students should know what they can and cannot do at all times. This will allow for any type of activities that you do, whether student or teacher-centered, to be successful.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Dan. We love to travel and to watch movies together. We are going to be welcoming our new baby boy soon and we are so thrilled to be first time parents and to experience all of the joys that parenthood brings. I love reading and running. I've run in three half-marathons and would love to run in a full marathon, but a high school knee injury makes it hard to even run a half. Teaching is all I've ever wanted to do, but I do love to decorate and paint as well. In another life, I would love to do event styling!!
