I've taught Korean students for 9 years. Most of my teaching experience has been as an English teacher online through Skype and offline during winter and summer camps. My lessons greatly varies such as a beginner who likes to learn the sounds of an alphabet to a fresh graduate TOIEC examiner to a 50ish employee who would migrate to the US.
Every student, whatever his age is, has different reasons in studying and diverse styles in learning. As a teacher of various ages, I always observe their needs and make sure that I equip myself studying different resources and English books and websites. For me, fun and serious-mindedness can both exist during a 40-minute class. My goal is for them to develop and retain information at a higher rate in a fun environment.
Most of my teacher moments would be the emails/letters I receive from students on my last day of teaching them. It deeply warms my heart that their kind words signify that learning goes beyond the four walls of the classroom ( or the computer screen with Skype). Above all, the values they acquired from me is of utmost importance.
I studied A.B. Sociology in college, added units and am now a licensed teacher. Next month, I'll be taking my certification in TEFL.
