TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 2nd-5th grade as a classroom teacher, and have worked with children K-5 as a reading interventionist. I have also spent time as a science enrichment specialist for grades 3-5.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love teaching children to THINK! I want them to be confident in what they know, but I want them to be also just as confident in what they do NOT know. I also want to teach students the skills that are necessary to go out and learn what they do not know. I also believe in teaching ideas that are transferable between subjects so that learning can be connected across disciplines.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have my Academically and Intellectually Gifted certification and National Boards for Early/Middle Childhood Reading-Language Arts. I was also recipient the 2011 Marcellus Waddell Excellence in Education Award.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Elementary Education. I obtained my Academically and Intellectually Gifted certification from High Point University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I'm not a frills-and-cuteness type of teacher. I'm a data-driven, quality content type of teacher. I like to have fun with my class but they know when it's time to get down to business.
