TEACHING EXPERIENCE

BEVERLY ELLMAN I have been a classroom teacher, an educational software developer and I have authored many lesson plan books for teachers. Throughout my career, I've trained teachers and students across the United States at colleges, educational conferences, and various school districts on using technology to advance the writing process. LYNNETTE LIPP Lynnette has spent almost all of her adult life "in school" and holds a Bachelor Degree in Piano, a CA Life Teaching Credential, a Masters Degree in Educational Computing from Pepperdine University, and received her J.D. in 1997. She has served as a master teacher, team teacher, and a teacher trainer for student teachers coming from USC and Mt. St. Mary's College. As a Co-Chair of Advisory Councils, School Site Councils, and later on, as Co-Chair of School Based Management, Lynnette gained experience in the State of California curriculum, worked with various types of budget accounts, was involved in text-book purchases and supplies, while also participating in new teacher hires. Before and after retirement, Lynnette wrote grants for classroom computers and, upon funding, set up computer centers in her own classrooms, computer labs in charter schools and private schools in the greater Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Valley areas. Lynnette trained teachers to facilitate independent learning using learning groups and computers in the classroom and also piloted many educational programs for children in her own classroom. Lynnette taught imperative 21st Century learning skills before they were formalized. Lynnette has created both curriculum and educational software. When working with Beverly Ellman on children's educational software, her specialty was the technical "how to" inserts for the classroom teachers. She also piloted many educational programs at all levels.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As elementary school educators, we believe in a student-centered approach to teaching with the emphasis on inquiry-based learning. Whenever possible, we encourage students to work together as they solve problems, conduct hands-on investigations and work to acquire knowledge. These lessons are geared to the primary students and work equally well at centers, in small groups, and with partners. Our goal is to facilitate learning in order for our students to become life-long learners.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

BEVERLY I received an outstanding achievement award from the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University for my work in the development and enhancement of several software programs including The Children's Writing and Publishing Center, Creative Pursuits Graphics, Kid Works, and Kid Pics educational versions and more. I was also a regional winner as the IZUZU After-School Hero of the Year for my work with GATE students at Coeur D'Alene Elementary School in Venice, CA LYNNETTE I won "Creative Teacher of the Year" from LAUSD along with being a Training Teacher for students from UCLA and Mt St. Mary's College, I've written Award Winning School editions for many software programs.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BEVERLY: BA in Education and Early Childhood from CA State University, Los Angeles and a MS in Educational Computing from Pepperdine University. LYNNETTE BA in Piano Cal State Northridge, a MS in Educational Computing from Pepperdine University, JD in Law from West Los Angeles Law School.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

LYNNETTE: I helped found a non-profit Music Fund in Amador County, CA . I was elected to the ACUSD School Board,.and served on the board that passed the first magnet school in Amador County and was instrumental in its formation. I was a volunteer teacher of reading in the Literacy Program through the Amador County Public Libraries and also spent a year as a volunteer teacher in the computer lab at Plymouth Elementary School. I also served several years as a volunteer on the Amador Community College Foundation Board which advocates, facilitates, and supports sustainable higher education in Amador County.
