I have taught Special Education in the resource and inclusive settings in both Kindergarten and 1st grade. My bachelor's is in Early Childhood Education Pre-K - 3rd grade and I am dual certified to teach general education as well. Currently I am a K-1 resource teacher at a rural Tennessee school. I work hands on in my room with kindergartners and first graders on early reading, reading, basic math, problem solving, and social emotional/behavior strategies. I also support my gen-ed teachers by creating modified materials and tests and behavior strategies. I have a background dealing with the collection of data and progress monitoring, so I also create forms and organizational tools to help with that aspect of teaching.
I am a cheerleader type of teacher. I am my students' biggest fan. Many of my students need extra love and support in order to succeed and whenever possible I try to be that for them. I set clear and high expectations for my students and work to make them believe they can reach them. I am also firm with them often, because I feel that many of my students crave structure and routine. I love new ideas and creating new things that are truly individualized with my students in mind.

I was an art major for a year in college before I felt God called me to change my path - now I create things for my classroom as an outlet for the gift of creativity God has blessed me with. I live with my wonderful husband, Jared(who is also a resource teacher K-8th grade), and our adorable dog, Lily. I'm really just getting started with making things to sell, so if you have any constructive tips to lend I would love to hear them!
