Hello! 4th Wall Backstage is run by two educators, Miss Annie and Miss Katie. We teach theatre to people with special needs as a source of therapy and way to introduce life skills into the curriculum. It is really successful!
Supports, empowerment, and more supports! The beautiful thing about theatre is it allows 100% entry level-- whether you are a verbal person who can memorize lines or perform via a tablet connected to a sound system, it can reach people where they're at. Given enough individualized supports students are empowered to be vital to the performance.
We've been honored to be in the news numerous times. To see our pieces go to: 4thwallkids.com/videos
Miss Katie has a masters degree in special education. Miss Annie has a vocal performance degree (aka, opera singer!). Together they are the perfect pair to bring the performing arts into the classroom.
Miss Katie is has a degree in American Sign Language and adds it to many curriculums offered. Miss Annie has written and directed numerous children's plays. The dynamic duo!
