Throughout all of my classroom experience, the 5th grade has definitely been my favorite and I believe it is where I will stay! While earning my masters of education, I have been able to truly delve into the new common core and be a part of writing units that will complement all aspects of early and middle elementary. I have presented at the Columbus, Ohio literacy conference on building community with literacy.
My teaching style can be described as structured, but with a huge emphasis on student choice and student community. We spend a lot of our time praising one enother, as well as evaluating one another's work in a respectful and meaningful way. With our literacy collaborative program, we are able to have the time and opportunity to have fantastic conversation that we would, otherwise, not be able to have.
