TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a 3rd & 4th grade Language Arts & Social Studies teacher for Chicago Public Schools. The majority of my teaching experience has been as a 6-8th grade Language Arts teacher for Chicago Public Schools, and I was recently moved into the intermediate grades I have experience teaching 6th and 7th grade literacy and social studies at a public montessori school (where I looped with my students), as well as 7th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies and 8th grade Writing at a world language academy public school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use a Balanced Literacy model, with both reading and writing workshop, mixed in with some social studies to boot! I do not have a textbook in any subject, and create a lot of my own lessons based on my students' interests and needs.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking complicated recipes (the spicier the better), sewing and crafting, long runs in Humboldt Park, and spending time with my five younger brothers and sisters. My husband is a teacher at a public high school, and we love to compare notes at the end of the day!
