TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This year marks my 8th year of teaching, and my 4th year in middle school. Teaching middle school Language Arts is something I had never really considered until I started doing it, and now I can't imagine teaching any other grades. There is something about seeing kids find themselves during those middle school years that is nothing short of breathtaking. I have experience working with struggling readers, ELL students, students on an IEP, co-taught classrooms, and high-ability students. I am a Teacher Consultant for Writing Project, and highly recommend Writing Project to anyone and everyone. It was truly the PD that changed my teaching.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My favorite thing about teaching Language Arts in Writer's Workshop. I love coming up with mentor texts, conferencing with students about their writing, and coming up with engaging ways to model writing elements for my students.
