We are made up of a group of high school teachers who have worked together for 4 years. We have combined experiences in teaching 11th Grade U.S. History, AP U.S. History, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Studies research method, 8th Grade U.S. History, English Language Learners (from beginning to advanced) for 15 years of combined teaching experience at Title I schools. We have conducted dozens of presentations for GT, Advanced Placement, ESL, primary/secondary source classroom strategies and have attended professional developments with the Bar Association, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Gilder Lehrman.
Out teaching style is very student centered and inquiry based. We use a lot of manipulatives and primary sources in our classrooms. Our primary focus is improving reading and writing by means of vocabulary instruction.
We have earned awards from teacher of year, to district awards, and recognition from the Texas Historical Society for excellence in the History Day program.
We both completed our undergraduate programs in the midwest prior to moving to Texas. Since then, we have completed over 1,000 hours in professional development while including many state and national conferences.
We love teaching, and we love spending time, at home with our dogs.
