I have been a classroom science teacher for 16 years and have taught in both the public and private school settings. I have taught in three different states (California, Minnesota, and Texas) and have designed curricula from grades 6 through AP Biology. In all my travels and years of teaching, I have experience in a variety of educational settings from urban to suburban, ELD to Advanced, and am currently working to integrate technology/engineering into the existing science landscape to align with NGSS standards.
I promote hands-on, laboratory skills development in my classes. Inquiry and metacognition are encouraged and practiced on a daily basis. I am able to effectively incorporate group work and am working towards developing the group mentality into a team mentality.
I am the recipient of my District's Innovative Technology Use Educator Award 2015. I have worked as a Teacher Researcher with the Mayo Clinics (Rochester) in a summer internship program.
I received both an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Science Education from UC Berkeley. Teaching Science has been the only profession I have ever taken on and have made it a lifelong commitment to increase it's value and quality to all.
