I made a big jump from high school social studies to first grade, and am never turning back! I love to incorporate games to practice skills, technology, and breaking the skills down to help students feel successful. Previously taught two years of 9th grade world geography in Texas! I loved it, and especially loved writing lessons. I hope to continue to do so while I figure out whether I will stick with the littles or go back to high school for my career :) I had student teaching experience in both world history and AP government. Prior to teaching, I interned for a year at the Texas Capital for a state senator, and upon graduating from college, I worked for three years for a U.S. senator.
I'm passionate about tweaking materials to best serve my students. Exit and entry tickets, stop and think time, and talking with students in small group settings helps me grow the most. I love incorporating games, checks throughout units rather than a review at the end of a unit, and inspiring students to think about their future and place in the world!
