I received my undergraduate degree from UMass Amherst in 2007 with a major in communications and a minor in education. I continued my education at Umass and received my Masters in Elementary 1-6 in 2008. I began teaching as a special education aide in a substantially separate classroom in Paxton, MA. This is where I learned that my true love of teaching lies in reading instruction. From there I began my track to receive my Reading Specialist license from Worcester State University. At the same time, I took a position as a third grade teacher in Leominster, MA. I worked in Leominster for 5 years (1 year in grade 3, 2 years in grade 2, and 2 years as a Title I Reading teacher). While working as a Title I Reading teacher, I decided to pursue my special education license pre k-8 at Worcester State University. From there, I accepted a position back in Paxton as a Special Ed teacher first for K-5 for a year and for the past 5 years as K-3.
I fully embrace differentiating in all aspects of education. I also use centers and various activities daily to reinforce all aspects of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension). I want learning to be interactive and fun!
