I meld creative and traditional methods. I assign a great deal of writing, ranging from literary criticism to creative assignments. I try to incorporate movement and group interaction in every block bell!
During her undergraduate years at UVa, Mrs. Zito received accolades both as a member of the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society and as an actor in several dramatic productions. More recently, she played the role of Maria in the 2008 Bread Loaf Actor’s Theater production of Twelfth Night in Middlebury, Vermont. Mrs. Zito presented her paper, "'No happy woman ever writes': The Conflict of Feminine Literary Success in Ruth Hall" at a national literary conference held at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Mrs. Zito, a 1999 graduate of Norfolk Academy, began her career teaching English at her alma mater in 2003. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Virginia in 2003, and earned her Master of Arts with Distinction in English Literature from Old Dominion University in 2007.
Outside of the classroom, her interests include reading, film, running, yoga, dance, and painting.
