I've had a variety of experiences as a teacher: private tutor, camp counselor, secondary teacher (substitute, summer school, and full-time high school), private higher education, and more. I also love developing curriculum materials for both math and web development.
Every student is unique, but most want connections to the real world and consistent expectations. My dual background in both math and computer science have opened my own learning to many interdisciplinary topics and resources, which I find very exciting. My teaching resources tend to be project-based or unit-based, in order to give a big-picture approach to learning. I love collecting resources and sharing my enthusiasm for my subjects!
I am a National Merit Scholar, inducted to the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa (liberal arts), Pi Mu Epsilon (mathematics), and Upsilon Pi Epsilon (computer science). For 2 years I chaired the USD chapter of The Association for Computing Machinery.
Graduated from The University of South Dakota in December 2010 with a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.S.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics.
I work part-time from home as a web developer and private educator. When I'm not immersed in math and web development, I like spending time outdoors and in my kitchen. I also like to be involved in my community, spending plenty of time at the public library and local humane society, while following the school boards of my metro area. I have two children born in 2016 and 2018, and it's a whole new world of learning and growing!
