TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 10th year teaching middle school math! I've taught a wide range of levels from grades 6-8 including core classes and math electives. Every year is something a little new and ever so exciting. I love middle school and never want to leave! :)

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is a mixture of everything...got to keep those middle schoolers on their toes! I've recently become really passionate about including movement in my classroom; hence the name Active Algebra. Any activity that gets students up and moving is a favorite of mine. I use stations like they're going out of style and am currently creating other movement activities to try in my classroom. I think it is important to embed movement into the math lesson so that brain breaks aren't needed.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

"It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time" Award for smashing 4 raw eggs on my head while playing Egg Russian Roulette to teach dependent probability....that counts as an award, right? :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Graduated with my Bachelors from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I live in Colorado with my husband, pup, and sweet baby boy! I enjoy reading, napping, hiking, drinking coffee, and crafting whenever I am not in my classroom. I've been told I have a lot of energy. :)
