TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I recently just finished my student teacher where I taught 9th grade Algebra 1 and 8th grade Algebra. Before then I served as a teaching assistant at San Diego State University where I taught incoming freshmen who took an Active Learning lab course where they worked on applications concepts and material they learned in their Precalculus lecture. I have been working at a branch of Sylvan Learning Tutoring where I have worked with students ranging from 6th-12th grade and have been a substitute ranging from 6th-12th grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I would describe my teaching style as student centered. Rather than me be up there on the whiteboard and telling students what they should be learning I rather let students experience mathematics and derive the understanding themselves. More so I focus heavily on student engagement and real world application of mathematics where I try to tie mathematics to student interests and other subjects such as science, history, and art.
