I'm currently in my 4th year of teaching. I have taught general education first and fourth grades. I currently teach 2nd - 5th grade special education students with varying disabilities (intellectual disabilities, autism, OHI, etc). I am currently pursing my ESL and middle school certifications and am looking forward to broaden my teaching experiences into the middle school world soon!
In the general education classroom, I LOVE using cooperative learning strategies, integrating art into lessons and using conference models to encourage students to take ownership of their learning! I really believe that kids should be invested in and ACTIVE participants in their learning! As a special education teacher, I am passionate about differentiation to the needs of each student, and creating products that allow my students to access as much of the general ed curriculum as possible. My products vary greatly based on my experiences and needs of my students.

I hold a Bachelors in Sociology, Masters in Human Services, and a teaching certificate in Elementary Education, and Mild/Moderate Special Education.
In addition to teaching, I really enjoy working out and bring outside and active. I'm very passionate about teacher advocacy and educational policy/advocacy. I love supporting teachers in ways to develop a healthy work-life balance through my blog: Active Learning, Active Living!
