TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Pre-K-8 English as a Second Language, English, Bilingual Science, History, Technology, and Spanish in Milwaukee Public Schools, Wis., Madison, Wis., Lake Geneva, Wis., and Glendale Unified School District, Calif. I was a Bilingual and Literacy Instructional Resource Teacher (coach) and a Teacher Leader in Madison's Professional Development Department. I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from California State University, Northridge. I am passionate learning. I am a member of MIT and University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Playful Learning Board because gaming motivates and engages students in learning. I'm also interested in and implement mindfulness practices which get my and my students’ bodies and minds ready for learning. Finally, I've found my students engage when they are interested in the topic or can relate to characters, so through my book company, Books del Sur, I import books written by Latin America authors that are humorous and authentic. I teach in Wisconsin, but I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago with my husband, three kids, and dog. We love traveling, scuba diving, playing in the lakes, and playing games in our yard or kitchen table.
