By Adaptive Tasks I worked as para educator assisting life skill and vocational students, as well as functional curriculum classes for 7 years. I create vocational and life skill tasks that were used daily in our classroom. I also create functional core subject material. I worked together with the teacher on ideas that helped students meet their IEP goals.
I worked very closely with the students helping them with worksheets and monitoring their work box task time. I focused on what each individual student's needs were and what worked best to help them meet their needs.
I received 100% on all evaluations during my seven years of employment as well as special notes that include "going above and beyond para responsibilities by creating vocational and life skill tasks for the classroom"
After high school I went on to take one year of college and then switched to vocational school taking dental assisting. I was a dental assistant for 14 years. After this I decided to obtain a para educator degree to help work with students with special needs.
I loved working within the special needs department. It is very rewarding helping students realize their potential and helping them gain more independence. I also have two other stores that concentrate on early elementary and special education: Education with Imagination and CC's Classroom Creations.
