I have taught 7th grade ELA since 2007 and I love every minute of it.
I prefer to teach with manipulatives and hands-on activities. There are times, though, that I will teach using "old school" methods like repetition and certain note-taking techniques.
I have written and earned a couple of grants. I have also earned a certificate of excellence as a Drama Club advisor and also a Spelling Bee coach.
I have earned a Bachelor's in Arts with an emphasis in English education in 2006. I went on to earn a Master's degree in 2010 in the concentration of a Reading Specialist. In the near future, I hope to earn my Ed.D from the University of Alabama in the area of Educational Leadership. I want to help teachers view education in another way and help them further their craft in an innovative and fun way.
I am an avid reader and I love to learn. While growing up, my parents thought I'd be a student forever and I guess they were right. I live in Virginia with my husband, son, and malamute.
