NC Teaching License in Middle and 9-12 Mathematics and Middle and 9-12 Science. Certification in school mental health. Six years' teaching experience in secondary math and science. I home schooled my own special needs children (Asperger Disorder, child-onset bipolar disorder) I am now retired, but tutor full time, specializing in students with attention, memory, sensory, emotional, or anxiety challenges.
I incorporate multisensory activities, foldables, graphic organizers, manipulatives, and investigations as much as possible into my teaching. Since I am now a full-time tutor, I am able to tailor instruction to each student's needs. I use interactive sites such as Xtramath.org and ixl.com for my students' skill practice. I also love the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives. I recently bought my own laminator and am a "laminating fool." I love card sorts, task cards, and such.

Teaching was my fifth career. My first career was as a hardware and operating system software engineer for a large mainframe computer manufacturer. My second career, was mother of two. My third career was Vice President of Mountain Elevator Corporation, an elevator contracting firm founded by my husband. My fourth career was as an advocate for children and adolescents with brain disorders in a project for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, North Carolina. I am now retired from teaching, and deeply enjoying being a full-time tutor.
