TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my fourth year teaching. My prior experience has been at all title one schools.I teach a majority African-American and Latino student population.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching philosophy can be best summarized in three words as: standards based curriculum, student centered and authentic relationships. I have an in-depth knowledge of the standards that drive English Language Arts and enjoy designing lessons that address the standards in a creative and engaging approach. Student centered instruction in my classroom looks like students engaging with material with limited "teacher talk" I think it is very valuable for students to learn through doing as much as possible. Lastly, authentic relationships with colleagues, students and parents is crucial to a successful classroom. I enjoy maintaining professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues in order to support students. Relationships with students and parents are crucial for a classroom to be a safe, productive and joyful environment.
