I have been working at one of the California Missions for a few years, teaching as an Education Program Assistant. My duties are as follows: -Educate students by following a hands-on learning program which meets California State Standards. -Give group classes 45 minute presentations describing the daily lives of the people, native and nonnative, who occupied the presidios, missions, ranchos, and pueblos. -Students are educated on 18th & 19th century skills ranging from Adobe brick making to rope making. -Educate students and guests about the social, political, cultural, and economic life and interactions among the people of California from the pre-Columbian societies to the Spanish mission, Mexican Rancho period, and post-statehood period. My music teaching experience immediately began after high school, as I began teaching lessons part time I wanted to grow more as an educator and grasped at the opportunity . I got the opportunity to become a marching band coach for high school. Much of the focus on my work was the testing of the memorization of students' music and music tonality of a section in the marching band whether it be low brass or woodwinds. I also helped with the audition and instructions on section leaders and Drum Majors as well as helped with the preparations of parade routines. I have learned to encourage my students to be better than I ever was at their age (it be they are younger than myself).
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what truly inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and the needs. I keep my instructions engaging and fun, no matter their level.

I have also worked as a Private music teacher for instrumental music K-12. This is my teaching strategy: -Planning individual lessons and overall schemes of work for pupils -Developing knowledge of materials and repertoire for students at different stages of their musical development -Extending my own musical experience by becoming familiar with the music my pupils listen to, by learning another instrument, by becoming familiar with other musical styles and by developing my improvisation and vocal skills -Communicating with parents about child's lessons and progress -Arranging performance opportunities for pupils, such as concerts for friends and relatives
