TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach 6th grade ELA in an urban environment. I have previously taught 6-8th grade Social Studies as well. I work to increase my students' love of reading and curiosity about the world. I also recognize that socio-emotional learning is a vital part of teaching middle schoolers. Some resources here will reflect that work as well.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe students benefit from learning and working with each other. Each student brings a different perspective to the class and our discussions. Group and partner work can help students learn the content more as well as how to work with others. Similarly, it is important to recognize that students benefit from more creative endeavors as well. By activating multiple parts of their brain, they are able to think creatively and learn more in the process.
