I have taught in both a Grade 1 and a Grade 3 traditional classroom, although most of my experience has been homeschooling my own 4 children for the last 9 years. My specialization is Elementary English Language Arts, but I have taught all subjects.
I believe that fostering a love of learning is not something that can be taught. It is through mentorship, facilitation, encouragement, and the ability to create a safe and caring environment and relationships that support students when they fail, and then inspire them to learn from these mistakes. These are the qualities that make one a life-long learner, a critical thinker, and one ready to face the 21st-century head-on.
Completed my Bachelor of Education with Honours.
I have a Bachelor of General Studies from Athabasca University, and also a Bachelor of Education from the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary (April 2020).
I owned and operated my own preschool for 5 years and it focused on Reggio Emilia pedagogy as well as kinesthetic and social-emotional learning experiences.
