TEACHING EXPERIENCE

10+ years classroom teaching experience ESOL Endorsed Elementary Education K-6 Exceptional Student Education K-12

MY TEACHING STYLE

All children can learn. I look to myself to provide the environment to take them as far as they can go. Teaching is more than direct instruction. It is providing a dynamic environment that invites students to take ownership of their learning through brain-friendly activities that promote higher-level thinking. I have many high expectations as an educator. I believe the most important factor in teaching and being a successful educator is to have a genuine enthusiasm for learning. My commitment to the teaching profession can be demonstrated by this enthusiasm. I am a life-long learner and am dedicated to always seeking out new research-based educational strategies and resources to use in my classroom. • Project Zero – Harvard – College of Education, Howard Gardner’s Framework for Teaching • Understanding By Design – Grant Wiggins • Kagan Professional Development Workshops (Cooperative Learning Structures for Success, Win-Win Discipline, Music and Movement in the Classroom) • Power of the Practioner/P.O.P. Program – Brain-based Communication & Questioning Skills • Summercore Workshop – Technology (Hardware & Software) I am committed to fostering the love of learning within my students. I have high expectations for every child and provide differentiated academic instruction that is centered on the needs and strengths of my students. My philosophy of education puts into perspective the importance of teaching to the “whole” child in order to really help that child reach his/her academic, emotional and social potential. • Classroom Management: Classbuilding, Teambuilding, Essential Agreements, Motivational & Behavioral Strategies (Bucket Filling, Living Above the Line) • Lesson Planning: Curriculum Development, Multiple Intelligences, Learning Styles, Emotional Intelligences, Social Skills, Curriculum Integration, Technology Application, Cooperative Learning Structures, Brain-Friendly Strategies, Universal Design for Learning, Brain Breaks, Brain Gym, Student Assessment, Differentiated Instruction, Providing Accommodations, Student Support Plan, Curriculum Mapping A child’s education should be interesting and even exciting. My teaching strategies include providing a safe, stimulating and highly academic environment wherein each child feels acceptance and encouragement in the achievement of success through the love of learning.
